About The Soft Touch Function BandWhen prospective clients are planning entertainment for their function they often have a vision of how they want their event to run. For example, maybe they would like to have some light saxophone-led jazz and swing classics during the meal followed by an evening of pop, motown, disco and other dancefloor filling favourites with an hour of ceilidh thrown in for good measure. Few bands would be able to accommodate such a diverse request and of those who could few would be willing to perform throughout the day and then all night as well. The Soft Touch can and regularly does which is why they are at the forefront of their market. To give an actual example; in December 2006 the band performed in the Czech Republic for the opening season of Beaujolais wine in Prague. The band performed a selection of French and Czech tunes (in keeping with the clients requests) whilst the 200 guests arrived in the early afternoon. The guests were then seated in the main hall and a number of speeches and awards were presented. During this time the band had been asked to perform some specially timed pre-arranged tunes whilst recipients walked the length of the podium to collect their awards. Following this the band then performed some instrumental jazz standards for 2 hours during dinner before taking a short break to return to the stage and maintaining a full dance floor until 2am the following morning with a selection of pop, soul, Motown and disco favourites. Furthermore, it is of course true that a band not only has to sound good but must also look good and conduct themselves in a manner befitting the event at which they are entertaining. A mere glance at the gallery and testimonial pages of this site assures potential clients of the attention to detail not only of the music but of the image of The Soft Touch. More often than not the band is asked to perform in tuxedos with clients sometimes even specifying their preference of colour. If it ensures a successful event The Soft Touch are more than willing to oblige. In terms of equipment the band are fully self-contained owning a variety of PA and lighting rigs to suit any venue of any size. All of the equipment is regularly PAT tested to ensure electrical safety and the band holds public liability insurance to the sum of £10,000,000. The Soft Touch will gladly provide a copy of this certificate on request. |
